Dr. Daniel Friedrich
Research Group Leader and Head of NMR Facility
Daniel Friedrich (name at birth Stöppler) received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Potsdam in 2011 and his Diploma in Biochemistry from Freie Universität Berlin in 2014. He completed his PhD in 2018 at the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) in Berlin, where he established advanced magic-angle-spinning NMR methods to investigate protonation dynamics in proteins. He subsequently conducted postdoctoral research at Harvard University and Harvard Medical School in Cambridge/Boston (USA), focusing on NMR-based analyses of non-canonical translation initiation in eukaryotes. Since 2022, Daniel Friedrich leads the NMR Research Group and directs the NMR Facility at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at University of Cologne.
